It’s not surprising to see Michelle Obama defending the programs of the previous administration, especially ones she had a part in.
But her school lunch program? She probably should have let that one go.
Nevertheless, she’s persisted in defending the slop she forced upon American kids. During an appearance at the Partnership for a Healthier American 2017 Healthier Future Summit, Obama decried what she called the “partisan” decision to roll back her school lunch dictates.
According to the BBC, the former first lady was responding to a decision by Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue last month that relaxed some of the school lunch provisions Obama championed in the 2010 Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act.
“So we have a lot more work to do for sure but we got to make sure we don’t let anybody take us back,” Obama told the conference in Washington on Friday, according to Breitbart.
“Because the question is, where are we going back to? I mean, this is where you really have to look at motives. You have to stop and think, why don’t you want our kids to have good food at school?”
Well, I do. That’s why I support a complete rollback of the policies she supported. Michelle doesn’t see it that way, though — and she thinks that means something’s wrong with me.
“What is wrong with you? And why is that a partisan issue?” Michelle said. “Why would that be political? What is going on? Now that is up to moms. I’m talking to moms. Think about this, take me out of the equation, like me, don’t like me, but think about why someone is OK with your kids eating crap? Why would you celebrate that? Why would you sit idly and be OK with that?”
